Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is not legal. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, financing sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and even though visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of most borders.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slots and sixty table games. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel compound that highlights many amenities aside from the gambling den, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight tables.
